The # 1 Most Popular Exercise is the ENEMY
To give you the TRUTH behind why cardio is causing harm to your fat loss efforts, it’s important you see some research behind these bold claims.
In a study titled, “Why do individuals not lose more weight from an exercise intervention at a defined dose? An energy balance analysis”, researchers found that weight loss from cardio was always lower than predicted (using standard calories in vs. calories out approach).
The article, published in Obesity Reviews (Vol. 13 Issue 6), explained that cardio doesn’t work for FOUR reasons:
1) Some people eat more when they start a cardio program
2) Calorie burning at rest often decreases with cardio
3) Calorie-burning lean tissue is often lost
4) Cardio programs cause you to do less activity over the day
These four reasons are a clear indication as to why you are not seeing results and losing fat with cardio.
That’s Strike 1 against cardio.
Another study from the University of Alabama found that emotional eaters—those who admitted eating in response to emotional stress—were 13 times more likely to be overweight or obese. Frustration from overuse injuries will cause emotional stress. And we all know that long state cardio is a recipe for overuse injuries.
This is probably the biggest downfall to cardio. It’s something I like to call cardio compensation – it’s when people crave more food after a cardio workout and “compensate” for their calories burned. Studies have shown that longer, steady state cardio workouts are the type of workouts shown to increase craving for food.
That’s Strike 2 against cardio.
And finally perhaps the most alarming research on the negative effects of cardio comes to us from the researchers at the Mid America Heart Institute of Saint Luke’s Hospital. This research found that while regular, short intense workouts are fine for your heart, long cardio sessions can cause “pathologic” changes in the heart and large arteries.
I’m no word wiz, but I know for certain pathological is not want I want to hear when referring to my heard and arteries. That not only is dangerous, but DEADLY!!
That’s Strike 3 against cardio.
That my friends, is what we call a Strikeout! So clearly Cardio isn’t worth it.
Now look, if you have always had a goal to run a marathon, I’m not here to crush your dream. But I would strongly suggest once you accomplish the marathon, run (better yet, WALK) away from and avoid it like the plague.
If slow, boring cardio is not the solution to achieve your Dream body, what the heck is left?
Let’s look at some more research that shows the Super fat burning power of interval training.
A new study from Australia shows that interval training is superior to slow cardio for fat loss. The researchers, Trapp & Boutcher, put WOMEN through a 15-week study where one group was a control, one group did intervals (20 minutes of alternating sprints and recovery), and one group did 40 minutes of slow cardio.
The interval group lost 2.5kg of fat in 15 weeks on average (with one subject losing 7. 7kg of fat), while the slow cardio group lost only 0.4kg of fat over 15 weeks.
How is this possible you ask?
While there’s no denying the fact that you burn calories during cardio (although it’s not near as much as you think), you’re not burning a significant amount of calories after your cardio session is over.
In contrast, Interval training has been shown to produce a significant amount EPOC.
What’s EPOC, you ask?
Excessive-Post exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) refers to the elevated state of oxygen consumption after exercise in an effort to bring the body back to its pre – exercise state.
In other words, not only are you burning more calories during the high intensity workout (which could be in as little as 10 minutes compared to 30-45 minutes jogging), you are going to continue to burn more calories long after the workout as your metabolism stays revved up.
Can you see the top secret yet?
If you guessed interval training using cardio equipment…you guessed wrong.
It’s something 10X’s better than that, I promise!
But it’s okay if you have not figured it out yet. I’m not done sharing valuable information that you MUST know to achieve your DREAM body…
To get you closer to this simple trick, let’s look at this incredible study form the Journal of Applied Physiology in Nutrition and Metabolism (V 37(6) : 1224-31. Canadian researchers tested a similar program to what you about to discover in the Kickboxing Revolution compared to the traditional 30 minutes of steady state cardio.
This study took 22 young aged women and put them through 4 workouts per week for 4 week duration. The 22 woman were put in one of these three groups below.
Group A: 30 minutes of treadmill running at 85% max heart rate
Group B: 8 rounds of 20 seconds of a single bodyweight exercise (burpees, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, or squat thrusts) with 10 seconds of rest between rounds.
Group C: No exercise (they were the non-training control group).
And the results? Drum roll please…
Both training groups increased their aerobic fitness levels by the SAME amount (about 7-8%). No you don’t need glasses, you read that correctly. The short bodyweight workouts (only 4 minutes) worked just as well as the 30 minutes of steady state cardio, despite the fact that the bodyweight workouts were 7 times shorter. Crazy, right!!
That’s not even the most shocking part.
Only in Group B – the bodyweight workouts – that increased their muscular endurance in specific exercises such as push – ups, sit – ups, leg extensions and much more.
And to top it off, Group B also enjoyed their workouts much more compared to the cardio group…
BUT…it was only Group B – those that did the bodyweight exercises – that also increased muscular endurance in common exercises like chest presses, leg extensions, sit-ups, and push-ups.
Thus the scientists concluded that extremely low volume of bodyweight “interval” style of training will boost cardiovascular fitness as well or better than cardio while improving muscle endurance.
How is this Possible?

Metabolic Density Training
Metabolic density training is a method of training in which several exercises are done one after another without any rest, in a superset fashion. The most common design for this type of training protocol is upper body, lower body, and core exercise done in sequence. These exercises are usually done for a short allocated time also.
Simply put, it’s about getting the most intense work done in the least amount of time. And not only getting increasing your work capacity in less time, but also through strategic rep and rest schemes that will maximize the caloric expenditure in a short amount of time.
However, most kickboxing programs do go from one exercise to another… no big deal, right?
But the truth is that all the kickboxing programs you’ve tried before are wasting your time and worst… your hard-earned muscle.
When you go from one “cardio” move to another without resistance exercises, you simply become “skinny fat”.
Most so-called “fitness experts” don’t even understand this simple concept.
And as you know by now from all of our findings, cardio is not the answer to your problem. It’s not just about the calories burned during the workout, but it’s what happens to your body after the workout is complete. MDT (metabolic density training) burns an incredible amount of calories during the workout, but more importantly it creates a huge EPOC effect, which as we learned earlier is the key to fat loss and lean muscle.
Density Training has many benefits over traditional cardio or weight training. To fight the stubborn fat around the mid-section of the body, you can really increase training density through a modified circuit training technique. A key difference between this and other types of circuit training is that instead of focusing on doing a certain number of reps, you perform as many reps as you can within a certain time period for the first set. Then, you increase the number of reps you perform for the second set.
This density training is what causes the hormonal responses that will help get you closer to your dream body.
